Cactus Club (Edmonton)

After a couple hours spent shopping in WEM, me and Moon were sooo hungry. I wanted to try Cactus Club, so we headed there. On a Friday night, it was real busy and were told to prepare for a 45 to an hour wait. After some hesitation, I put my name down and decide to try our luck.

I wasn't keeping the time, but I think within 30 mins we were seated...YAY!

Appetizer: Tuna Tataki ($13.5)
Seared Albacore Tuna, Green Papaya and Carrot Slaw, Orange, Avocado, Pine Nuts, Yuzu Vinaigrette

The appetizer was great, flavors were all clean and great either alone or together. While eating, I could not figure what was in the slaw with the carrots! I later found out it was Green Paypaya! and I thought it was radish or white carrot...haha! The thing I wanted was for the pine nuts to have more a crunch, it was too soft, but overall great dish!

My Main: 9oz Certified Angus Sirloin with Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus ($24)

I also enjoy a GOOD steak, and any good restaurant can cook that! My steak came out JUST right, a good sear with grilled marks and inside a bright red.pink with the interior just a bit rare. Hmmm..... The mashed potatoes were warm and a tasty filler and the asparagus were sweet and gave the right crunch!

Moon's Dish: Hunter Chicken
Button, Portabello, Shiitake and Crimini Mushroom with Veal Demi-Glace, Green Beans, and Herb Fingerling Potatoes

When Moon's main came out, I must admit I felt envious! By just looking at her plate I knew it would have to taste good and just by the sheer size of her chicken! Matching my predictions, it was for fact DE-LISH! The chicken breast was so tender that my knife went straight down while cutting it, and they left the skin on! My god, Skins....is the best part...HAHA. There were so many mushrooms too! <3 style="font-style: italic;">Cactus Club Cafe
